What Makes This Recipe Unique
Expert Cooking Tips
- Toast the rice lightly in oil before adding liquid to enhance its nutty flavor.
- Use fresh tomato sauce or blend fresh tomatoes for a brighter taste.
Step 1
Heat a wok or large pan over medium heat and add a bit of oil and butter. Once the butter has melted, turn the heat up to high and toss in the garlic. Cook it for about a minute until fragrant.
Step 2
Add the onions and cook, stirring often, until they turn a nice light golden brown.
Step 3
Stir in the tomato puree and salt. Cook for another minute, then lower the heat a bit and add the powdered spices and tomato ketchup. Give everything a good stir and cook for a minute or two on high heat.
Step 4
Add the veggies and gently stir them in. If it looks too dry, splash in a little water. Cook everything together for 2 to 3 minutes on high heat.
Step 5
Finally, add the boiled rice and mix gently until everything is well combined and heated through.
Step 6
Turn off the heat and serve! Enjoy your meal!
