Cooking Advice
- Be careful not to overmix the batter to keep the cake light.
- Check the cake with a toothpick before taking it out of the oven.
Step 1
Warm your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9-inch Bundt pan to make sure the cake doesn’t stick. In a large bowl, mix together the cake mix and pudding mix using an electric mixer. Then add the sour cream, vegetable oil, and water, blending everything well. Crack in the eggs one at a time, beating after each one to keep the batter smooth. Stir in the chocolate chips last, then pour the batter into your prepared pan.
Step 2
Pop the pan into the oven and bake for about 55 to 60 minutes. You’ll know it’s done when a toothpick poked in the center comes out clean. Let the cake cool in the pan for 10 minutes before turning it out onto a plate to cool completely, which should take another 20 to 30 minutes.
Step 3
While the cake is cooling, warm up the frosting in the microwave on medium power, stopping every 30 seconds to give it a good stir until it’s just soft enough to drizzle. Finally, pour the frosting over the cake and sprinkle some candy-coated chocolate pieces on top for a fun, colorful finish.
