Why This Recipe Is So Good
Chef Tips
- Brown the pork before slow cooking to add extra flavor.
- Let the pork rest for a few minutes before shredding to keep it juicy.
Step 1
Heat some oil in a skillet over medium heat. Toss in the chopped onion and cook it until it’s soft and fragrant, about 5 minutes. Then add the garlic, chili powder, and pepper, stirring everything together until the garlic is nicely softened, which should take around 3 to 4 minutes. Next, pour in the steak sauce, vinegar, brown sugar, Worcestershire sauce, and a splash of liquid smoke. Give it a good stir and let the sauce come to a gentle boil.
Step 2
Place the pork tenderloin in your slow cooker and pour the sauce over it. Cover and cook on High for 5 to 6 hours, or on Low for 10 to 12 hours, until the pork is so tender it falls apart at the touch of a fork.
Step 3
Once it’s done, transfer the pork to a plate and shred it using two forks. Mix the shredded pork back into the sauce in the slow cooker to soak up all that flavor before serving.
