Why This Recipe Is So Delicious
Tips For Perfect Results
- Make sure to grease the slow cooker insert well to prevent sticking.
- Avoid opening the lid too often during cooking to keep the heat consistent.
Step 1
Warm the water in the microwave until it’s just warm to the touch, about 45 seconds—be careful not to make it too hot. Stir in the honey, oil, milk powder, salt, and yeast until everything is well mixed. Pour this mixture into the bowl of your stand mixer fitted with the dough hook.
Step 2
Add the flour gradually, about a cup at a time, mixing on low until it all comes together. Then bump up the speed and let it knead until you get a smooth dough, adding a little more flour if it feels too sticky.
Step 3
Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface and shape it into a ball. Spread some oats on your work surface and roll the dough around in them so it’s nicely coated. Place the dough on a narrow piece of parchment paper that will fit inside your slow cooker.
Step 4
Pop the parchment and dough into the slow cooker, cover, and set it to High. Let it cook for about an hour and a half until the bread is fully baked through. Once it’s done, take it out and let it cool before slicing and enjoying!
