Why This Meal Is A Winner
Kitchen Tips
- Use a heavy-bottomed pot or Dutch oven to prevent burning.
- Stir occasionally to keep the beans from sticking and to blend the flavors well.
Directions
Warm your oven to 325°F (165°C). In a 9x13-inch baking dish, mix together the pork, beans, bacon, chopped onion, green bell pepper, ketchup, and brown sugar until everything is well combined. Cover the dish tightly with aluminum foil and pop it in the oven. Let it bake for about 2 hours, giving it a good stir every 30 minutes to keep things from sticking. After that, take off the foil and continue baking for another hour. During this time, stir the beans every 15 minutes so they get nice and thick with a lovely caramelized finish. Once the beans are rich and bubbly, they’re ready to enjoy!
