Why This Recipe Is So Easy To Love
Helpful Cooking Tips
- Don’t overfill the pie to prevent the filling from leaking out during baking.
- Brush the crust with an egg wash before baking for a shiny, golden finish.
Step 1
Warm your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9x13-inch baking sheet with some cooking spray. Roll out one package of crescent roll dough onto the baking sheet, pressing the seams together and stretching it to cover the whole pan. Next, layer slices of Cheddar cheese evenly over the dough, then add the ham, followed by the rest of the cheese slices.
Step 2
Now, take the second package of crescent roll dough and unroll it onto a clean surface. Pinch the seams together again, then carefully place this layer over the cheese and ham. Use a fork to press down the edges and seal everything up. To help steam escape while baking, cut a few shallow slits on top of the dough.
Step 3
In a small bowl, whisk together an egg and a bit of water, then brush this mixture all over the top layer. Sprinkle sesame seeds along with a pinch of salt and pepper for some extra flavor. Pop it in the oven and bake until the crust turns a lovely golden brown, about 15 minutes. Let it cool a little before slicing and serving.
