Helpful Cooking Tips
- Pat the fish dry before applying the crust to help it stick better.
- Cook the fish just until it flakes easily with a fork to keep it moist and tender.
Step 1
Preheat your oven to 350°F. Lightly spray a shallow baking dish with cooking spray to keep the fish from sticking. Pat the tilapia fillets dry with a paper towel.
Step 2
In a zip-top bag, combine the bread crumbs, seasoning, salt, and a pinch of cayenne pepper. Seal the bag and give it a good shake to mix everything together.
Step 3
In a small bowl, whisk the milk and egg until smooth. Dip each fillet into the egg mixture, letting any extra drip off, then place it into the bag with the breadcrumb mix. Seal the bag again and shake gently to coat the fish evenly.
Step 4
Place the coated fillets in the prepared baking dish and pop them in the oven. Bake for about 15 minutes, or until the fish flakes easily with a fork.
Step 5
For a nice crispy finish, switch your oven to broil and cook the fillets for another 4 to 5 minutes, keeping a close eye so they don’t burn. Once golden and crisp around the edges, they’re ready to serve.
